Welcome to an activity pack, which aims to show what potatoes and sweet potatoes have in common and how they differ. Learners complete a 3-page workbook containing a page each on origins, botanical information and nutritional facts. All pictures used in the workbook are also available as picture cards to aid discussion before, alongside and/or after completion of the written activities. The third task, i.e. nutritional facts is also included as a text + word cards to facilitate your learners’ understanding. Finally, a board game can be used for final memory recall and consolidation. A document with suggestions for use and differentiation is also included in this pack.

Maths, English, Science and Food Technology - This fun-packed project will involve your reception or Year 1 class in fun activities. Some of the skills involved include estimating, measuring, investigating, designing, describing. Some tasks lend themselves particularly to group work. A 6-page document with suggestions for use and differentiation is also included. Talk about pasta and their shapes, use them to measure items, experiment with pasta in various ways, design your own, create a bar chart, make a pasta monster and write about it. Gather your ingredients and get to the bowl before your eggs hatch! Practise problem solving and numeracy skills in this lighthearted fun board game in which they move around the board picking up the correct pancake ingredients to store on their A4 / letter sized mats. Simple instructions are included. You will need a counter for each player and one die to play the game. Print off the following: one set of cards per player - as each player needs to be able to collect exactly one of each card shown on the set of cards one mat for each player one game board per group of players - the game board is provided in A4 / letter size as well as the larger A3 / tabloid size. Food Technology, ESL, Tutor Time, Form Time: Ideal for class work, cover, revision, homework, the colourfully illustrated 5-page work book and its matching Presentation takes learners through the making of pancakes and pancake traditions in other countries. Some tasks make learners reflect on different fillings and presentation of pancakes. Learners have to comment on pictures, research some facts, match foreign traditions to pictures, answer questions and finally solve a crossword by solving the clues given (about information from the book). This resource contains my three black and white work books on Local Foods, Food Miles and Food Supply Chain. Each work book is 4 pages long. The aim is to get learners thinking about where food comes from and how it gets from its source to being consumed. Also included is a file with 48 topic-related key words across the 3 resources. The key words are available as word cards and also as an alphabetical list with space to write meanings, definitions or simply for notes. All files are included as .pdf taken from Word documents. Autumn, Harvest, Thanksgiving: Your students will enjoy learning about pumpkins and finding out some of the facts they never knew about them. The workbook starts with the life-cycle of pumpkins from seed to soup and carved shell. Students are then challenged to think about why certain things, like rain, soil, etc… are good for growing pumpkins, find out about some botanical facts and finally are made to think about uses for the various parts of a pumpkins. There is a crossword puzzle at the end of the workbook and an answer key is provided separately.
